Scavenger Hunt at Frick Park

Friday, September 13, 12:30-3 pm
Frick Park

The ECS PCO will host a fun, free, family-friendly Scavenger Hunt in Frick Park on Friday, September 13 (this is a half-day for students). We’ll gather at the picnic table by the Tennis Courts parking lot. Teams will hunt the trails for clues and a chance to win a prize. We’ll start gathering and registering teams at 12:30, and the hunt will begin at 1:15. At 2:30, we’ll meet back at the pavilion for snacks and the raffle. Hope to see you there! Contact scavengerhunt@ecspco.org with any questions or to volunteer to help.

PCO Volunteer and Activity Fair

Wednesday, September 11, 6-8 p.m.
Intermediate School Cafe

All K-8 parents, guardians, and ECS staff are invited to join us and learn how parents and students can get involved at ECS. We will also give away some fun door prizes! We’ve invited representatives from ECS Hawks sports, community sports groups, ECS Room Parents, ECS Fall Festival, Girl Scouts, Blooming Bash, ECS Edible Schoolyard, PCO Staff Appreciation, PCO fundraising, K-5 Yearbook, and more. The meeting is geared toward parents, with free childcare provided for school-aged children. We’ll also have pizza for attendees. Questions? parents@ecspco.org Whether or not you can attend, please explore opportunities here.

Box Tops Challenge!

The PCO is sponsoring a Box Tops Challenge in K-5 classrooms! All families are encouraged to bring your Box Tops (digital and/or paper) in an envelope or bag labeled with your classroom number or teacher name before October 16th. Please place them in the bucket in your classroom so your classroom gets credit for them. The buckets will be delivered to classrooms the first week of September. The classroom collecting the most Box Tops will get a pizza party! Each Box Top earns 10 cents for ECS! Again – keep collecting until October 16th.

Also, please remember that the Box Tops program is changing. Box Tops are going digital! Paper and digital clips will be accepted for the Fall submission. After the Fall, you’ll earn credit for ECS by using the Box Tops mobile app to scan your store receipt within 14 days of purchasing a product with the Box Tops label. Download the new app and collect Box Top labels for ECS every time you shop. Go to www.boxtops4education.com/newbtfe for more information on the new app and collection process.

Join the PCO Steering Committee!

The PCO is organized and operated by a Steering Committee. We are looking for new members to help shape the rest of this school year and beyond… to work together to plan and organize meetings, brainstorm ideas, spearhead fundraising efforts, plan fun events, and much more. We’d love to welcome some new faces to this friendly team. The Steering Committee currently has the following openings available:

Vice Chairs (one for each school building) – Work directly with the principals as a main point of contact between the school and the PCO and collaborate with the Chair and rest of the Steering Committee to ensure that all PCO initiatives are supported and successful. This position has the potential to become the PCO Chair in coming years.

Secretary – Record minutes of PCO Steering Committee meetings and PCO general meetings and oversee general PCO correspondence.

PCO Board Representative – Serve as a link between the PCO Steering Committee and ECS Board of Trustees by attending both PCO and Board of Trustees meetings each month and reporting about PCO/board activities at each meeting.

Committee Coordinators – These are new roles for the Steering Committee this year! Coordinators are expected to attend Steering Committee meetings and serve as a link between the Steering Committee and various PCO committees. Open Coordinator positions include Community Support Coordinator, Event Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator.

This is an open, friendly, and welcoming team and we hope you will consider joining us as we continue our work in making ECS a great place for our kids, staff, and families.

More information about Steering Committee responsibilities.

If you are interested in pursuing any of these positions, or if you have questions, please contact parents@ecspco.org.
