The ECS Urban Ecostewards group maintains a Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy site in Frick Park and keeps it free of invasive plants. Bring shoes that can take soggy ground! Fun for the entire family and a chance to learn something about our local environment. Everybody can help, just bring firm shoes and a water bottle.

Every year we ask ECS staff members to fill out a survey of their favorite things. We ask their favorite treat and favorite coffee shop drink, among other things. I’m setting out a challenge to make sure every staff member that took the time to fill out the survey gets a treat from their list. Here’s the list of staff members and what they love. Simply put your name next to the staff member you’d like to gift, and send something in by the end of the year! When you choose to do it is up to you!
In order to accommodate busy schedules, ECS EcoStewards offer different times to help keep Frick Park free of invasive plant species. Everybody can help, just bring firm shoes and a water bottle. We meet at the tennis court parking lot off Braddock Ave, behind the Upper School.

Have you ever stopped to think about all the busy work that goes into getting a classroom ready for a new school year? Name tags filled out, bulletin boards set up, rooms decorated, items organized and labeled, lots of cutting, printing, gluing to be completed!
We are looking for volunteers who can help teachers tackle these projects at the end of the summer. Upper school kids and adults are welcome. Email Beth Lott at email@example.com if you want to be included on our list of Busy Bees! Thank you!
We are looking for two volunteers to chair next year’s fun family celebration, Fall Festival. The Fall Festival has been fabulously organized by Betsy and Jennifer the past two years but it’s time to pass the torch. They are both willing to lend a hand to the new organizers and they took great notes. The tentative date is Saturday, September 26th so some planning may need to begin before the school year. Think you might be interested? Contact Beth Lott at firstname.lastname@example.org.
ECS Urban Ecostewards will meet twice in June! The long winter has given the invasive plant species an edge this year. Japanese knotweed, goutweed, and garlic mustard are in unfortunate abundance this season. Help keep native diversity in Frick Park, get some exercise, and learn what is going on in our parks. We offer two dates because it is all hands on deck, knotweed ninjas!
Saturday, June 13th, 11 am – 1 pm
Sunday, June 14th, 11 am – 1 pm
We meet at the parking lot off Braddock Avenue behind the tennis courts. Tools, gloves, and instructions will be provided. Bring your own water. Rustic footwear is advised.
