Guided by the school's mission, the Fair Trade Marketplace aims to provide a selection of fair trade, socially responsible, environmentally friendly, affordable gifts for holiday gift giving.

When and where can I shop?
The Fair Trade Marketplace will be held in the Environmental Charter School's Upper School auditorium at 829 Milton St. in Regent Square (near the corner of S. Braddock Ave. and Henrietta, 15218).

The Fair Trade Marketplace will be open to the public on these dates during the 2013 holiday season:
Saturday, November 23, 10am-3pm
Friday, December 6, 4-7pm
Saturday, December 7, 10am-3pm
Sunday, December 8, 10am-3pm

Children are invited to shop in the Chickadee's Nest shopping area independently. ECS parent volunteers will be on hand to help them select items for their loved ones. All items in the Chickadee's Nest are $10 and under.

ECS families are also invited to shop:
Monday, November 25, 4-7pm after school, at E-Day pick-up and at the beginning of the PCO meeting

Why fair trade?
Fair trade organizations offer a wide variety of unique, often handmade products at affordable prices. Through fair trade, artisans and farmers in low-income communities are able to earn an honest living, to provide for their children and to be gainfully employed in a job that brings dignity and joy. Fair trade organizations cultivate partnerships with their suppliers and contribute to the development of communities through educational, nutritional, environmental, and health programs.

With its attention to environmentalism and equality, fair trade shopping demonstrates not only true ECS school spirit, but also holiday spirit--no matter which winter holiday you're celebrating!
