PCO Spring Fundraiser: Plant Sale

Consider purchasing your Spring flowers through ECS PCO this year!  We're using the same vendor as Phipps Conservatory so the flowers are really great.  You can also order herbs, hanging baskets and planters (which are absolutely beautiful!) and all in time for Mother's Day (plants will be available for pick up: Friday, May 8, 8am-5pm).  Print a few extra order forms for friends and family!

Earth Hour: March 28

As of March 12th, 1181 cities in 80 countries have signed on to participate in Earth Hour.  Pittsburgh is one of those cities and Imagine ECS has signed up as a participating organization! On March 28, 2009 at 8:30 pm, we will join hundreds of millions of people around the world in making a bold statement about climate change.  By turning off our lights for one hour, we will send a message that Americans care about this issue and stand with the rest of the world in finding solutions to the escalating climate crisis.  Join us!

March 19: In Recipes for Disaster (63 min.), a filmmaker concerned about the world's addiction to oil convinces his wife and two young sons to go on an "oil diet" for one year. Gimme Green (28 min.) is a social history of the uniquely American obsession with the residential lawn and its impact on the environment, our health, and our way of life.

April 16: Monsanto is the world's leader in genetically modified organisms and one of the most controversial corporations of all time. Is their market supremacy detrimental to global food security and environmental stability? (109 min.)

Sierra Club Environmental Film Festival at ECS

During this FREE film festival, there will be two evenings of engaging and thought-provoking films with an environmental theme. The event is family-friendly, refreshments will be available for a small donation, and donations will be accepted to offset cost of films.
